Hello hello!!(對面的女孩看過來 看過來 看過來~♫) Yes I finally got round to doing this XD I had trouble sorting through all the photos and resizing everything, but I got them done at last mwahaha!! Ummm I have to warn you guys that I'm a terrible photographer so all the food actually look waaaaay better than they do here.... and of course they taste even better hrhr
Right, first up is the trio of breakfast photos...
This one is taken in a breakfast shop not far from my house. The big bowl with the spoon is actually my mum's breakfast (healthy porridge) and the rest is mine (except the plant lol) The garlic bread was real good and the fruit porridge in the white bowl was wonderful (it was a bit like the porridge we bought for the anime marathon from New World actually haha). There was also another drink that came with this set menu but I forgot to include it. But I have to say I wasn't even half full after this, although I repressed the urge to order a second serving ==|||
This one is one of the must-have breakfasts everytime I come back to Taiwan!! Aaaah the blueberry and cream cheese bagel (drool) Although when I saw "wedges" as part of the set menu I imagined it to be like the Hayward serving... then it turned out like THIS! Gosh Taiwanese people's definition of one serving never ceases to amaze me. It's from another breakfast shop called "Tomato" and it has a really nice variety of breakfast choices and set menues...I'll have to take you guys there!!
This next one is also from Tomato, but it's my dad's breakfast - hrhr pork for breakfast? I bet New Zealanders would never expect this.
Next section is dedicated to the snack of buns (?) - 包子 which can be both sweet or savoury. The most famous of these is from a shop (well, actually two shops right on the same road and branched from the same origin) called "東河包子" - which is named after the area in which the shop is in. The one I'm holding contains azuki beans paste - I'm sure Miya would love this hrhr... And Jenn - note the bracelet! I do remember our promise lol. My favourite is a kind of vegetable bun XDD
This is the shop:
Next up is the Teishoku series! Each of these only cost NZ$12 and it also includes dessert (which I didn't post up)!! Man I love Taiwan hahaha. This Japanese restaurant is probably one of the best in Taitung - our family used to come here quite often when I was little, and everytime I came I used to just order a steamed egg (茶碗蒸) and Soup Udon Noodles (湯烏龍麵)... even now they are still my all-time favourites hrhr (hence the name of my blog)
This is my mum's seafood salad teishoku (Japanese set menu)...
Then my dad's marinated pork set menu...
The last one is my fish set menu (香魚定食)...
And then I'm going to intoduce a more traditional meal where there's lots of dishes and a soup and each person has a bowl of rice so they can just take what they want with their own chopsticks or (usually) shared chopsticks from each plate and eat it with their own rice..... (ok this is a shitty explanation == I'm sure you guys know anyway). This particular restaurant is a very atmospheric Haka restaurant in the countryside which was on our way back from the marathon a few weeks back. (Haka is kind of like a slightly different race of people in Taiwan... my dad is Haka so I'm technically half Haka). The meals there were sooooo good!! Even my dad (who is extremely picky about the standards of traditional Haka food) was quite satisfied. And everything had the strong flavour typical of the Haka meals.
And then there's the extremely satisfying set menu (western this time... not Japanese) which included everything from a simple pre-meal cocktail to entree and dessert and coffee XDD (This is not the one I kept telling you guys about though... the one which included EVERYTHING hrhr - although this one which I'm introducing is also really really good haha - maybe I'm just really easily satisfied as you can see) This restaurant is called Lucifer (路西法), they provide Japanese meals on weekdays but French meals on weekends - both types are excellent but I prefer the French one in this case.... since it includes the cocktail ==+
First there's the cocktail (which is more like juice - I can't taste any alcohol in it T_T)
Following that is the first entree - the big one is mine - the rectangular plate is actually my dad's (he insisted to put it there so that it looks like a face... haha our family is so mature lol).
Then comes the soup - a really rich and creamy pumpkin plus sweetcorn soup......... it was the most marvelous thing I've ever drunken!! (A bit exaggerated but it was VERY good XDDD).
Next up is the second entree...
Then finally comes my main course... and for the hundredth time I thank God for letting me into this wonderful country where people are so generous with food (tears). According to my very poetic dad this is "A chicken under a tree" (樹下一隻雞)!! ^^|||
And lets not forget about the dessert!! (Probably the thing I most look forward to in the whole meal mwahaha) This one is a milk jelly thing with fresh fruit on top (奶酪).... == (die of happiness)
I didn't put up the coffee photo since I still prefer New Zealand coffee haha... (Arrrgh my Flat White~~) But yeah you get the idea - lots of food for very little money!! But most Taiwanese people still think it's expensive *sigh* They should really come and live in NZ for ten years aye ==+ Hope you guys enjoyed the photos and be prepared for many many more later on... (I still haven't been to the night market yet hrhr... and about fifty other restaurants??) and of course when you actually come to this heavenly country you will be able to try out some of these ^^ (Yup yup no peanuts, no cream, no half-cooked meat.....) I can't wait for you guys to come and eat with me!!! (I'm going nuts here trying to ignore the beauty and losing weight programs on basically every channel on TV O___o)
